Sol finds ‘a little bit’ of water damage in the sub-flooring of our retro. Packing is on hiatus until the problem is resolved. The trailer tub, toilet and surroundings move out of the trailer and onto our front lawn. Sol spends the good portion of the next 4 days cutting out the damaged parts and rebuilding the sub floor.
Great exercise to go though 5 days before lift off. The 95 degree weather outside adds to excitement.
While Sol is fixing our future home we are also settling the zoo we are leaving behind in care of my mother. 2 cats, a large reptile and a small one, two glow fish and a handful of plants are relocated into the kitchen for easy care. Tamara is working on us tirelessly to let her bring one of the reptiles along. Sol almost gives in but there are just too many unknowns to be able to bring her safely. She stays home in care of her loving grandparent to whom we are thankful.
There is a lot of figuring out on how to sustain the family of 4 and their dog on limited or intermittent supply of resources. In my yearn to keep things as light as possible I make a big mistake of buying a lot of packaged food (something we usually don’t eat). Although I temporarily score some cool mom points with the girls (“she bought CapriSuns and Pringles!”) 3 days into a trip I regret my food choices as I am hunting vegetables in farmers market in downtown Nashville.
