The best tip I received, and the best advice I can offer someone set on buying their first RV or travel trailer is: Go small; go cheap.

For many reasons going small and cheap has been a wise move for us. This advise is why I bought a 2006 19′ JayCo. So far, this choice has been a good one.

  • Low cost of entry
  • Driving a big trailer or RV is obviously more complicated than something smaller, and sometimes prohibitive depending on your site or tow vehicle.
  • Expectations vs. needs will differ. We would rather learn what we want and get it later than to overbuy or jettison stuff along the way.
  • Less to go wrong
