This morning I join the girls at a dinette working. I am on my meetings while they are on their zoom calls. It is chaotic and crazy as girls still need quite a bit of oversight with their technology and scheduling and we are trying to figure out how to work in between it all.
At some point Sol takes girls and a pup to the local playground between their zoom sessions to blow off some steam and they come back considerably happier and more engaged.
It is hard for the little ones and the big ones to stay engaged over zoom.
We are finally at a park in the afternoon and chose a nice hike with the overlook of Grand Prismatic. This time looking at it from different side and from above. This is out third time visiting Grand Prismatic and is , once again, a completely different experience.
However, the hike is too close to the parking lot and there are a
lot of people, so, we go further in to the wilderness to reach Fairy Falls couple miles into the inner trails of the park.
It is mesmerizing. The water falls in thin strands from the high cliff. While the day is hot it is cool by the falls with suspended mist in the air. What a peaceful place to spend an afternoon at.
We spend a some time admiring it but must go back to the pup
who is waiting for us in the car (no dogs are allowed on trails).
Sol and Sasha run ahead while me and Tamara leisurely walking behind taking in the scenery and revisiting states’ capitals she is currently learning (she is about half way to learning all of the states at this point)
After the hike we go back to Old Faithful as the day is hot and we do
not mind being rained on this time.
We wait for an eruption and then follow the trail behind it that goes over many other geysers, hot springs and mud pots. They are equally as impressive but are unpredictable in their activity and, therefore, not as much of a tourist attraction.
This is very good scenario for us as we are touring those spots practically alone. On the drive back we are treated to multiple sights of bison, elk families and trumpeter swans…. no bears though.
Since it is our last night in Yellow Stone we take girls into town to pick put their souvenirs. After much much deliberation they
settle on two necklaces and night lights. I stay outside the stores with the pup as prices of those souvenirs raise my anxiety.
