This isn’t just any trip; it’s the maiden voyage of the season and a journey that promises one heck of a celestial kickoff and some good times together and in nature. Our destination? The Finger Lakes, near Ithaca, for a weekend and then up to Rochester, NY, to witness the 2024 solar eclipse.

I still haven’t finished Watney, our 1981 vintage Airstream, to perfection, but he’s functionally complete and ready to roll. We’ll stay at Sned Acres, one of only a few year-round campgrounds for the weekend and then head North on Monday morning to be in the path of ‘totality’, probably near Rochester.

One highlight we’re looking forward to this weekend is Taughannock Falls, where we’ll hike and explore with Darwin, our yellow lab, and Waffles, our little corgi. That makes for 6 beings in the trailer and some good family time ahead. We can’t wait!

Stay tuned for updates from the road, tales from the trails, and snapshots of life lived in the embrace of the great outdoors…
